Student 1 Jay Daway Bennett

Hi everyone!
My name is Janesther, but I usually go by Jay. This is my last term at SNHU. Once I complete my last 2 classes I can get my HIM degree. Yay! When I am not doing schoolwork I try to spend as much time as possible with my family. I am a wife and a mom of 3 girls under the age of 10. We just recently moved back to NY state from Las Vegas, NV so it has been an adjustment for everyone. When I have time I also like to craft different items and binge whatever interesting series I can find. Professionally, I have not made a final choice on what my career would be. I have a healthcare background on the clinical side, and I am leaning toward a position that would entail coding or auditing coding. For now, I will focus on preparing for and passing my RHIA exam.
I have selected outcome #4 – Implement and manage hardware and software technologies to ensure effective data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting of information.
In the case study the goal is to SHS would like to convert all their facilities to the same EMR system. This would promote interoperability which would facilitate better communication, coordination, and continuity of care for patients. Part of the implementation process will include aspects of the outcomes of #4.EMR offer the capabilities of data collection, storage options, methods of analyzing data and compiling reports. This is also one of the outcomes from the final project. When choosing an EMR or EHR system there are many things to consider and analyze so that the best choice for that institution can be made. This includes again the aspects of #4. How will the data be collected, accessed, or stored? How can the system or how easy would it be do analyze the data and create a report? These are just a few things to consider. Also, the EMR selected must meet interoperability standards. It needs to communicate with other installed programs across the network and alleviate any issues they may currently have such as still utilizing paper charts in certain departments.
