1. In what instance (ALWAYS give a full ID meaning, artist’s name, title of painting, where painetd and a date, possibly even the medium) of a Renaissance painting in this class did you see linear/one point perspective used?
2. What is the aim of using this tool in the Renaissance painting?
3. Explain the use of humanist ideals during the Renaissance on the example of two Renaissance paintings that we covered in our class/recorded lectures/class material?
4. What does ‘iconography’ mean? Give an example (full ID) of a Renaissance painting we studied?
5. Explain ‘Chiaroscuro’ and give an example of a painting from our class material where we came accross of this term?
6. Explain ‘forshortening’ and give an example from a Renaissance painting that we studied?
7. Explain ‘Contrapposto’ or ‘counterpose’ and give an example from a Renaissance work of art that we studied? Always a full ID.
8. Explain ‘naturalism.’ In the lecture on Moroni, Aimee Ng talked about it in relation to Da Vinci’s art. Use the example and explain.
9. Fresco painting. Which fresco painting from the Renaissance did we study? Full ID! Explain fresco technique.
10. What does ‘ambiguity’ mean in a work of art? Discuss the work by, at least, one of the artists (from our materials) where we encountered this notion in regard to a work of art. Give full ID. Next, discuss.
11. Who were the patrons in the (Southern) Renaissance?
12. What did they want to display via works of art?
13. Michelangelo’s David gained a new meaning in a new location/site. How so? Discuss this new meaning and the relation to the city state/government.
14. Which were the relationships that were crucial to Sofonisba Anguissola’s success? (Be specific. There were several specific relationships.)
15. Give examples of Indigenous influence in Latin American Art. (Do not list specific paintings, but discuss the ways via which the Indigenous influence showed.)
16. Discuss the pose and expression of the female figure in ‘Pallas and the Centaur’ by Botticeli.
17. HERE, IN ONE FULL PAGE AT LEAST, COMPARE AND CONTRAST MICHELANGELO’S AND BERNINI’S SCULPTURES OF DAVID. UNDERTAKE VISUAL ANALYZES.
First, fully ID both sculptures. Next, in a one page long paragraph, compare and contrast. Do NOT do bullet points. Example, while M’s David expresses…through displaying…, B’s David demonstrates….by …. and so on.
