Identify your Unknowns
Based on the results you have collected in the Unknown Project – Part1, you will now use the provided Dichotomous Keys to identify your unknowns. Dichotomous keys for gram-positive rods, gram-positive cocci, and gram-negative rods are available.

To identify your unknown start at the beginning of the corresponding Dichotomous Key. Answer the tests step-by step.. For example, the identification of all gram-negative unknowns starts with the Oxidase test: Is your unknown Oxidase positive or negative? Depending on the result continue with the next test, until you reach a point at which you will obtain the name of one bacterial species. This is your gram-negative unknown.

Complete the “Unknown – Gram-Negative Results” and “Unknown – Gram-Positive Results” file.
Here, only include the tests/media, which were necessary to identify your unknown based on the provided Dichotomous Keys. For example, if four tests/media were needed to identify an unknown in the Dichotomous key, describe only these four tests/media.

Follow the guidelines and example provided in the file.
