How does the term/image relate to broader themes discussed in the lecture or the reading discussed in class? Explain.

You will WRITE a short essay on ALL LISTED terms and images on the lecture videos, all drawn from the lecture videos ONLY. What should you do in these essays? First, identify the term/image, stating who/what, and, as far as is possible given the course, where, and when it was. Second, explain its broader points of significance for an understanding of issues discussed in the course (lecture and primary source). Some questions that can help you do that: • How does the term/image relate to broader themes discussed in the lecture or the reading discussed in class? Explain. • What can the term/image serve as evidence for? Explain. • How does it illuminate differences and/or similarities between different societies? Explain. • What broader developments discussed in the course can it serve as evidence for? Explain. • What caused the term/image? Explain. • What did the term/image cause? Explain. • How can the term/image help you compare and contrast the society or period that produced it with other societies or periods we have studied? Explain KEEP IN MIND YOU HAVE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FOR EACH TERM IN THE LECTURE VIDEO!! EVERY VIDEO!!! EVERY TERM!!! EVERY IMAGE!!!! MUST BE ATLEAST 1-2 PARAGRAPHS OR MORE ALSO YOU HAVE TO WRITE A SHORT ESSAY PER TERM/IMAGE SO FOR EXAMPLE, TERM: Barbados -The Greek word for non-Greek in the archaic period was Barbados. Not speaking Greek was what distinguished them as non-Greeks. The name Barbados, which means “barbarian,” originated after the Persian War. The perception of non-Greeks was that greeks were inferior to them. Slaves by nature, according to Aristotle (384–322 BC). After reading Homer, IIiad and the lectures, I understood that this narrative of arete and fate gives evidence to the actions of Greek and Trojans are alike. The story constant information with superiority, particularly in war demonstrates the reliability of the lecture. King Agamemnon is evidence that the Greeks had a better view of themselves. He threaten anyone who he feels will threaten his power because he didn’t want to lose his kingdom. ( Although this is good evidence How did the Greek value of arete play a role in explaining the impact of the Persian War discussed here. *Broader significance should have been added, but this is a good example to know what my professor is looking for !) YOUR OWN WORDS ONLY!!!
