Dear Literature Elective Students,
I’m writing here to provide final instructions for your paper, which is due next Sunday, July 14th, at 9 am.
Please review all the guidelines of short paper submissions, including margins, correct font, how to mark paragraphs, paginating your paper, how to correctly mark titles (of your poems and of the critical sources), etc. In addition, please note:
1. Your Works Cited page must start at the top of its own page. You are to follow MLA format, as available for review at OWL at Purdue. The rules are all there – you only need to follow them.
2. Make sure you understand how to integrate quoted material into your paper. Make sure also to provide correct references in your paper. Here too, OWL at Purdue can guide you.
3. Don’t forget to make line-breaks in any poetic material you quote.
4. Avoid general assertions and statements in high-register language. Such statements are what AI produces and will lead me to suspect that your paper is not your own work. Let’s avoid that.
5. You are to provide a one-page reflection on the paper-writing process. This page should appear at the end of your paper, after your Works Cited. This reflection is to be written in the first person; in it, you should discuss what the process was like for you, what you learned, what was challenging, and/or anything else you want to share.
The Moodle submission is open. Do not forget to put your name on the saved file, before you upload it. The submission deadline is final. Together with that, if you see you are not able to meet the deadline, you may write me – ahead of time – and we’ll figure something out.
Good luck with the writing. I will be out of email communication from tomorrow morning until answering emails from today until Thursday, so please don’t write to me during these days.
I have full faith in each & every one of you and know you can all produce serious and worthy papers.
Best,
Rachel
