In this activity, learners will reflect on their experience at the community event. In a three-to-five-page paper, write a reflective paper responding to the following questions:
What was the event? (title, date, time, location, or online platform). Title of non-profit organization: A More Excellent Way June 29, 2024 2pm – 5pm, 1502 West Palmetto Street Florence SC
Who was the event’s target audience? Community, other organizations/agencies, local police department.
Explain the type of event. What type of social justice community engagement event? Advocacy for Vulnerable Populations:
Focus on children, homeless individuals, refugees, or other vulnerable groups. Advocate for their rights, access to resources, and improved living conditions.
Explain the role and intent throughout the event (whether you were a speaker at the event or organized the community event). I participated in organizing the event.
Explain the social justice issue addressed at the event. The needs of the homelessness and providing assistance for the marginalized population with housing, food, employment.
The historical context of the identified social justice issue addressed at the event, including relevant systemic/structural entities (i.e., what structural deficit has been holding this in place?); make sure to clearly define this as a social justice issue.
What were the perceived goals of the event? awareness and providing resources Did the event accomplish its goals? Yes Explain.
What assets were evident at the event that might be leveraged to support the target population? Explain
What were the main takeaways relevant to macro practice? List 3-5 and explain.

Proof of engagement: For speakers: Include a copy of the flyer (with specific event information included), the title of your presentation, and/or summary of discussion. For community event creators: Provide event outline (event breakdown, times, focus/titles, etc.).
