How can the read aloud be used to promote continuity of learning between prior to school and school settings?

Part 1 – Understanding the Read Aloud (approx. 750 words). Drawing on what you have learnt in this subject, respond to the following questions. 1. Using sociocultural theory, what is the benefit of reading aloud with children in relation to the development of language and literacy. Refer explicitly to everyday language and literacy practices, the role of the MKO, (more knowledgeable other) and the influence of individual social and cultural contexts. b) Why is it important to select high-quality literature in order to support children’s language and literacy development. Why is this important for the specific development of Indigenous and English language learners. c) How can the read aloud be used to promote continuity of learning between prior to school and school settings? In what ways can picture books and the read-aloud be used to support multiple transitions? Part 2 – Picture book selection (approx. 750 words). The selected picture book is Dharma the Llama by Matt Cosgrove This section will include:The title, author, year date, publisher of the text, (including an image of the front cover of the book)A 100 – 150-word description/abstract of the book – including the text type (narrative, information report, recount etc)A summary of the semiotic resources employed in the multimodal text, with annotations (include images from selected pages of the book to exemplify the points).Justify the choice of this text, considering:appropriateness of the topic of the selected picture book for this age group.appropriate textual features (such as language, text structure, vocabulary and illustrations). Part 3 – I will do the read aloud of the book Dharma the Llama Part 4 Planning from the Read Aloud (approx. 1000 words)Make five (5) suggestions, each with a 200-word justification, of the ways this text could be used to promote literacy learning in the early years (birth-8). These suggestions must relate to the following five focus areas and your justification must refer to subject readings. 1. phonological and phonemic awareness 2. play 3. draw, talk, write 4. digital technologies 5. storytelling You must use all of these readings and include readings about sociocultural theories. Please look at the topics, there are other readings that I could not attach that are important. I have also included the marking criteria for high distinction and distinction marks. The main text for this subject is Langauge Literacy & Early Childhood Education, Janet Fellows and Grace Oakley (3rd edition). I have also included readings from this text. Make reference to the Australian Curriculum where appropriate and note that this assignment is for an Australian University.
